Quarry Trails Metro Park in Columbus, Ohio gave Barrett's senior session three completely different looks without ever leaving the park. From a barefoot moment near the waterfall to a tailored suit in the park's urban stretch to a GQ-inspired shot at the quarry wall, this location proved it can hold a full range of style in one afternoon. Barrett brought an easy, go-with-the-flow energy that made every look feel natural instead of staged. This is what a senior session at Quarry Trails can look like when the wardrobe does the talking and the location does the rest.
Barrett walked into this session with relaxed confidence, the kind that makes a photographer's job easy. He's 100% go with the flow, and that showed in how quickly we moved between three very different looks across Quarry Trails Metro Park.
We started near the waterfall, where Barrett went barefoot in an elevated shorts and button-down combination. It's a look that reads casual but still feels put together, and the water gave us movement and light a flat backdrop never could.
From there we shifted into the park's small urban pocket for a full suit look. That change in setting did as much work as the change in wardrobe, trading the natural waterfall backdrop for something more editorial without needing to drive to a second location.
We closed at the quarry wall, where the suit took on an almost nautical feel against the stone. It's one of the most GQ moments to come out of a senior session this year, and it only worked because the location and the wardrobe were both doing something specific.
In my years photographing Columbus-area seniors, a guy who commits to his outfit choices the way Barrett did is what makes a session like this possible. Quarry Trails deserves credit too. Few Columbus senior portraits locations offer this much range in one visit.
If you want more than one look in your senior session, you don't need to plan a multi-location day. Quarry Trails Metro Park has enough variety, water, open stone, and a small urban stretch, to carry three distinct vibes in a single afternoon. It's one of my favorite recommendations for Columbus Ohio senior guy portraits that want range without extra driving time.
What should a senior guy wear for pictures at Quarry Trails Metro Park?
Bring at least two looks if you can. Something relaxed like shorts and a button-down works well near the water, and a suit or blazer holds up beautifully against the quarry wall and the park's urban stretch. Barrett's session used both, and the contrast is what made the gallery feel complete.
How many outfit changes can we fit into one senior session at Quarry Trails?
Most sessions comfortably fit up to three looks, since the waterfall, the urban pocket, and the quarry wall all sit close together. That kept Barrett's three-look session efficient without feeling rushed.
Is Quarry Trails Metro Park a good location for both natural and urban-style senior portraits?
Yes. It's one of the few Columbus-area parks that gives you a natural, water-based backdrop and a more editorial, urban one without leaving the property, which is exactly why it worked so well for Barrett's session.
