Inniswood Metro Gardens in Westerville, Ohio might be the best-kept secret for senior portraits in Central Ohio, and it's not close. One park gets you formal rose gardens, wooded trails, a creek, and architectural backdrops without ever moving the car. Myla's session is a perfect example of what that range can do. Four outfits, four completely different moods, one gallery with more variety than most seniors ever get from a single location.
We kicked things off in the rose garden, lavender lining the path and that blue and yellow gazebo doing all the work in the background. Myla had on a white ruffle dress, looked back over her shoulder, smiled, done. That's the shot.
Next stop, the garden bench, flowers going absolutely wild behind her. She changed into a floral maxi dress, sat down, chin in her hands, zero effort. Some seniors need direction for that kind of shot. She just did it.
Last stop, the pergola and the creek. Jeans, a sage green top, pearl earrings. She leaned on a post, then hopped up on the bridge railing. Same girl, completely different vibe than where we started twenty minutes earlier.
Here's the trick to a gallery with this much variety: outfits that actually match where you're standing, not just outfits you like. Myla brought four looks and every one of them worked because it fit the spot, dressier in the garden, more relaxed by the creek. If you show up with four outfits that all read the same, you get four versions of the same photo. If you plan them around the location, you get a gallery that actually feels like a range of who your senior is. We figure this out together before your session so you're not guessing on the day, and it's honestly one of my favorite parts of the process.
Ready to get this on the calendar? Every session comes with styling help, a full planning session, and me making sure your senior actually has fun.
Is Inniswood Metro Gardens a good location for senior portraits in Columbus?
Yes, and it's one I recommend often for seniors who want real variety in their gallery. Inniswood in Westerville has formal rose gardens, wooded trails, a creek, stone walls, and wooden pergola structures all in the same park. You can shoot completely different environments in one session without ever getting in a car. For Central Ohio seniors, it's a consistently strong location no matter the outfit style or vibe.
What should my senior wear for portraits at a garden location like Inniswood?
Garden settings are versatile enough to handle everything from a flowy maxi dress to jeans and a casual top, which is exactly why I love them. I recommend bringing two or three looks that feel different from each other. Light and soft tones photograph beautifully in the formal garden sections. Earthier tones like sage, olive, or warm neutrals work really well in the wooded and creek areas. We'll talk through all of this at your planning appointment before your session so nothing is left to guessing.
How many outfits should my senior bring to their session?
Two to three is a solid starting point, but some seniors bring four and every look earns its place. It really depends on how many distinct areas you want to shoot and how much variety you want in your final gallery. We talk through this at your planning appointment so the number makes sense for your session specifically, not just a general rule.
Do you help with outfit planning before the session?
Always. Every session I shoot includes a planning appointment before shoot day where we go through outfits together, talk through locations, and figure out the vibe we're going for. You don't show up on the day hoping it works. We make sure it's going to work before we ever get there.
How far in advance should I book a senior session in Westerville or Columbus?
Earlier than you think. Most of my summer sessions are booked by late spring, and once the calendar fills it fills. If your senior is going into their senior year, reaching out in the spring gives you the best chance at getting a summer date. I take a limited number of seniors each year intentionally, and that limit is real.
What products do most families end up with after their session?
Albums and wall portraits are the most common, and honestly the most meaningful. The album lets you tell the full story of the session across multiple images. A wall portrait is the piece that ends up in the living room and stays there for years. Both are designed to be displayed and actually enjoyed, not saved in a folder nobody opens.
