Kai is the youngest of five siblings I have been lucky enough to photograph over the years, and we definitely saved a highlight for the finale. He is a senior at New Albany High School and he showed up with a really clear vision for his look. It is officially the "final lap" for this crew, and Kai made sure we went out on a high note.
The Vision: Serious Grit Meets the Woods
Kai wanted to bridge two totally different worlds for his senior pictures. He was looking for some serious, urban grit in Columbus, but he also wanted to capture that classic wooded aesthetic since we were right in the heart of fall.
I knew a hidden spot where we could grab both looks in one afternoon without missing a beat. From the architectural stone downtown to the deep autumn trees, Kai handled the transition like a pro.
What I loved most about working with Kai was watching how much fun he actually had! He was so engaged with every spot I chose for him, and he even had his own ideas that we incorporated into the flow.
We captured some amazing laughing shots and candids that I love insanely. Like, crazy love. They are just so natural and true to who he is. Most guys expect a senior session to be a long afternoon of awkward posing, but Kai’s energy was perfect. He has a natural confidence that made the "serious" shots look like a magazine feature, but it is those real, unscripted moments that truly make this session.
To this amazing family! Thank you for letting me be a part of all five of your kids' milestones over the years. It has been so much fun to watch them grow up and to be the one behind the camera for the whole journey.
Kai, you were the perfect finale for the streak and I cannot wait to see what you do next! Thank you for being a ton of fun!!
