From Headshot to Personal Brand: Branding Photography for Men
Let me tell you a little secret: most of my male clients don’t call me thinking they need personal branding. The first phone call usually starts with, “I just need a headshot.” Something clean, professional, and confident—maybe for LinkedIn, a speaking event, or because their partner finally said, “It's time.”
But here’s what actually happens.
We start talking. I ask a few questions—what they do, where the photos will be used, what they want people to feel when they see them. And somewhere in that conversation, there’s a shift.
Suddenly, we’re not just talking about one headshot. We're talking about a website, a social media profile, a press feature, or maybe even a dating app photo (yep, it happens!). They start to realize a single image is powerful—but a collection of intentional images? That tells a whole story.
That’s when the session evolves into personal branding.
We dive into wardrobe options, possible locations, and ways to showcase both the polished side and the more laid-back, real side. Maybe it’s a suit-and-tie headshot, then a shot with coffee at a favorite local café, or working at their laptop. Each image starts to reflect who they are—not just what they do.
So, if you’re a guy thinking, “I just need a headshot,” consider this your nudge. We can absolutely start there—but don’t be surprised if we uncover something bigger. Because when you’re investing in yourself, why not go all in?
